Getting Ready For Baby

Monday, March 1, 2010 by Tiffany Bickerstaff
As I approach the sixth month of my pregnancy, I realize its time to start making some major purchases so I am not stressing out towards the end and have time to relax. Buying baby stuff is fun, however costs add up quickly and it can become quite stressful. Most women will receive a ton of presents from their family, friends and co-workers at their baby shower, but the large items, like furniture and strollers, you will usually purchase on your own. I have learned to shop around in order to save money. You don't have to be cheap and settle, but definitely take advantage of sales!

The first thing on my to-do list is to get the nursery together and purchase a crib. I have been pricing cribs for the last few weeks and decided on the AFG Daphne Crib and Changer. This specific crib was available at a few different stores, but Walmart (16 Points/$) had the best price. This crib is perfect for me as I do not have a lot of space in the baby room and it comes with the changing table and some drawers for storage. I ordered it online and am excited to receive it sometime next week. While you are shopping online at Walmart, check out the bedding for the nursery and mattresses too. Memolink.com always has internet store coupons for Walmart, so be sure to check it out and add more to your online savings.

The other large purchase I just made was a stroller. I looked forever and finally found one I love at BabiesRUs (24 Points/$). Another item I recommend from BabiesRUs is their glider rocking chairs. I can't stress the importance of having a glider at home if you have a baby. I couldn't imagine not having one. With my first daughter I spent a lot of time when she was little rocking her to sleep. Gliders are so comfortable and all babies love the rocking motion.

You will always find savings online and a better selection, plus its more convenient to price items from the comfort of your home instead of running all over town from store to store.  Always go through Memolink.com to earn rewards online while you shop and take advantage of thier baby product coupons. Happy shopping!

Its time to plan your trips for the year

Tuesday, February 23, 2010 by Annmarie Thorne
My husband and I just sat down to discuss all of the trips we're hoping to take this year. They are ranging from family events to simple vacations.  Our final count landed around 5 trips this year, not including our "stay-cations".  Since we have to travel so much this year, we started to look for the best travel deals online.

I've always been a big proponent of Expedia (20 points/$) and Orbitz (1,200 points) because I feel they are the best discount sites for flying.  My husband likes Priceline.com (40 points/$), so he can "name his own price".  Lately, I've been finding the best deals on Frontier airlines through Expedia and can find airfare as low as $190 round trip back home.

If I'm looking for online hotel coupons, I usually use Hotels.com (40 points/$) or Priceline.com. However, with Priceline, make sure you know what all of your 4-star or 3-star options are before you place a bid. If there is any question of ending up at a bad hotel, I'll just book through hotels.com, pay a bit more, and play it safe. But I've stayed at awesome hotels for 50% off using Priceline

We aren't sure where we're going for our anniversary this year, and we'll probably decide that based on the best online discount offers we find. It's nice to know that based on our travel schedule this year, we'll be able to earn rewards just from booking our travel through Memolink.com. It's just one more way to help us save for our trips.

Fashionable Children’s Clothing for Less

Tuesday, February 9, 2010 by Tiffany Bickerstaff
The Spring/Summer season is quickly approaching us, and if you have kids, this means its time to start getting a new wardrobe ready. Adults can always wear their clothes from last year, but kids have to start fresh since last year's clothes no longer fit. There is no point in spending a fortune on outfits when they are only good for a few months. You should be shopping at The Children's Place (40 points/$); where they always have store sales online.

The Children's Place carries clothing for children ages newborn to ten years old.  I have been a customer for a couple years now and have always been impressed and pleased with the quality of their clothes. They truly have great prices and have a huge selection of fashionable clothes, shoes, accessories, sleepwear and swimwear.

They currently have an online shopping deal that allows you to take an additional 50% off.  This means you can get jeans for as low as $7.99, shoes for $9 and graphic tees for 2 for $12.  If you are a busy person like I am, take advantage of the ability to shop online and have items delivered at your door step.

Not only are you saving money when you shop at The Children's Place, your kid will be the best dressed kid at school! I whole-heartedly recommend this site to anyone with children. Don't forget to check with Memolink.com for kids online coupons!

Find Online Hotel Coupons at Memolink

Thursday, February 4, 2010 by Annmarie Thorne
Did you know that Memolink has online hotel coupons? You can always find travel coupons online through the usual stores like Hotels.com (40 points/$), Expedia (20 points/$), Orbitz (1,200 points), Priceline (40 points/$), Travelocity (24 points/$), and Hotwire (16 points/$), but you can also find great deals at less known stores too.

BedandBreakfast.com (120 points/$) is a great site for those intimate vacations. Right now, they are offering 20% off any reservation that includes a weekday (Mon-Thurs). Just use their store code online, BBWINTER20 at check out.

If you're looking for a nice hotel that won't break your budget, go directly to the hotel websites to find the best deal. For example, Choice Hotels have a number of discounted packages. You can get packages for almost any type of event like dining packages, golf packages, wine tasting packages or romantic packages. Either way, you're sure to walk away with a great weekend at a great deal.  Choice Hotels (40 points/$) include the Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Clarion Hotels, Quality Inn and Sleep Inn.

I grew up staying at the Holiday Inn (40 points/$) or Best Western (40 points/$) and think they are great family hotels. They are clean, family friendly and affordable. When you book through the Holiday Inn website, they have a Lowest Internet Rate Guarantee.

Most of these hotels have loyalty programs you can use along with earning points through Memolink's Online Rewards Program. So make sure to sign up for every free loyalty program associated with these hotels to get their points and Memolink points at the same time.

Buy Books Online!

Thursday, January 21, 2010 by Tiffany Bickerstaff
Reading has always been one of my favorite past times, I love to just curl up on the couch a read a good book.  Although I visit the library quite frequently, I prefer to own my books. There are books that I read more than once and I love to share my favorite books with friends. I know that buying books can get expensive, but you can get great online shopping bargains when you purchase your books at Memolink.com!

I recently discovered AbeBooks.com (40 points/$) and it has become one of my favorite stores. You can find new, used, rare, or out-of-print books through their community of over 13,000 independent booksellers from around the globe. Their selection is huge and you will find everything from bestsellers to textbooks and everything in between. The books are priced as low as $1.00 (used) and shipping varies from Free to just $2.50. I haven't found a site with better prices or selection.  You can really stock up on books and save money! When I shop at Abebooks.com I usually end up buying 3-4 books at a time. You can also sell your books on the site as well.

Check out Memolink's Coupons and Deals section and search the category Books, Movies & Music Section.  You will find great online coupon deals at other great stores such as Borders.com (64 points/$), Barnes & Noble (48 points/$) and Alibris (40 points/$).

Baby Gifts

Friday, January 8, 2010 by Tiffany Bickerstaff
There are so many people I know that are expecting right now, including myself. And it seems every time I turn around someone else is announcing their pregnancy. This has me thinking about baby shower gifts and things I should probably start stocking up on. Expecting parents will appreciate whatever gift you get them, but some ideas are better than others. There are some great online shopping deals that you must check out!

Diapers are always a great gift for newborns and its never too early to start buying them. When I had my first daughter, I was so stocked up I didn't have to buy diapers for the first few months and it was so nice. If you want to give diapers as a gift, get them a size or two up.. the babies grow fast! Plus, people that buy diapers usually get the newborn size and having a variety of sizes will allow parents to be prepared with for the months ahead. If you shop at Diapers.com (16 points/$) you will get $5 off diapers. Memolink has baby product coupons for Diapers.com. Use code: AFFL10 to save $10 off your first order and receive FREE shipping on orders over $50. Place your order by 6pm for overnight or 2 day delivery. The best part about shopping here is if you find a better deal online, Diapers.com will match it.

Another great gift idea is toiletries such as baby wipes, lotions, bath soaps, tear free shampoos, powders, sunscreen.. you get the idea. These are things that are used on a daily basis and I as I said from my own experience, its always nice to be stocked up on these items. Diapers.com has more to offer than just diapers, they have all of the above and everything else baby you can think of! So if diapers and lotions aren't the gift you had in mind, check out their clothing, toys and furniture selection.

One of my favorite baby stores to shop at is BabiesRUs. Most people usually end up registering here anyways, so that makes it convenient. Find savings online when you shop at BabiesRUs, you will earn 24 points/$. Right now, save over 50% with their CLEARANCE store extra bonus discounts. BabiesRUs has one of the largest selection of any and all baby items you can think of. You are guaranteed to find something that will please you, as well as the new or expecting parents.

Finding the perfect newborn gift is easy online, and who doesn't love shopping for babies!?

Start Your Resolution in Style!

Tuesday, January 5, 2010 by Tiffany Bickerstaff

Did you know that almost one third of New Year's Resolutions are to lose weight and get in shape? Most people get started in January, but then it fizzes out after a few months, sometimes after a few weeks.  If this is going to be your resolution, one way to help yourself stay committed is to buy some new work out gear! I know that may sound silly but think about it, if you invest in some new clothes it will give you the confidence you need and make you comfortable in the gym environment; especially if this is new to you. Let's face it, when you look good, you feel good.  I have found some great online shopping deals to share with you so you have somewhere to start.

Check out the huge selection of athletic shoes for men and women at Shoes.com (120 points/$). This store always offers FREE shipping and FREE returns.  You will also find savings online when you shop at ChampionCatalog (96 points/$).  ChampionCatalog.com has the widest selection of Champion clothing and sporting goods available anywhere. With this wide variety, everyone is guaranteed to find something! Lastly, check out JC Penney (24 points/$).  They are currently having an online clearance sale on their active wear. Shirts and yoga pants starting at just $7.99, you can't beat their prices!

Why not earn rewards online while you shop? Good luck and Happy New Year!

Stylish Mom-To-Be

Monday, December 28, 2009 by Tiffany Bickerstaff

Being almost four months pregnant, I have reached the stage to where my regular clothes are starting to get tight, which means its time to start shopping for maternity clothes. I haven't worn maternity clothes in a couple of years, and to be honest, I wasn't really looking forward to it again. But I realized that now there are tons of trendy maternity clothes and for great prices! You obviously don't want to spend a ton of money on clothes that you are only going to be wearing for the next few months, so please read on for some great online shopping deals.

I personally like the jeans from Motherhood (64 points/$). They have such a wide selection of styles from straight leg, boot cut and flare; you can get the secret belly fit or the under belly style. Just because you are a mom-to-be doesn't mean you have to wear "mom jeans" - stay stylish while being comfortable! Their jean prices range from $19.99 to $49.98 so there is something for every budget.  Motherhood also has tons of cute tops to chose from from dressy to casual.  Special online deals from Motherhood include buy one get one half off - long v neck or long sleeve crew neck tees, and shipping is only $6 for every order.

Another one of my my favorite places for maternity clothes is the GAP.  The GAP (32 points/$) always has great store sales online for their already inexpensive maternity wear. Right now, you can save an extra 20% off items that are already on sale!  Also, Target has some of the best clothes at the best prices. At Target you earn 56 points per dollar and they always have a ton of internet store coupons at Memolink.com. I love the huge selection of  maternity dresses. You can wear them to work or for date night and they are extremely comfortable.

During pregnancy everyone wants to look and feel good, but I recommend buying only what you need because your belly grows so fast and you are only wearing these clothes for a few months. You should enjoy shopping for your beautiful body, but save some money for that bundle of joy of yours!

New Years Eve...Eat, Drink and Don't Be Too Disappointed...

Wednesday, December 23, 2009 by Casey Golubieski

Raise your hand if you dread New Years Eve as much as I do.  It's normally the most anti-climactic holiday we have, and weirdly it's the one everyone gets the most excited about even though we know we're setting ourselves up for disappointment.  I have one rule to follow that will combat the inevitable NYE Let-Down.

Don't go anywhere that requires you to buy tickets or pay a cover.  This automatically means crowds, performances of some sort and usually standing outside wearing clothes not made for blustery, winter weather.  The price you pay to get in the door and stand shoulder to shoulder with other glittery strangers, will not be worth the cheap champaign and stupid confetti you spend the next week getting out of your hair, clothes and area rug.  Instead my vote is to surround yourself with a small group of good friends and some delicious eats.

If you have people over, shop online at memolink.com and earn free points to purchase some gourmet appetizers and wine.  It may seem strange to purchase food at online discount sites, but it's actually very convenient - and saves you from the stress of play bumper buggy at the market during the holidays.  Shop Olive Nation (80 points/$) online for some great snack ideas.  They have oils and tapenades and sauces for dipping bread, along with olives and nuts.  Omaha Steaks (56 points/$) also has great appetizers, deserts and wine if you are looking for something a little hardier and rich.  Omaha Steaks also has online specials this week and they guarantee arrival before New Years.  Memolink also offers points for shopping at Wine.com (40 points/$) and they currently have three online shopping discount codes available for various dollar-off deals.

Here's your assignment.  Send out your evite this week.  Shop on Memolink.com for some wine and snacks.  Then go buy a little black dress (looking good is the best part of NYE anyway), and enjoy your friends.  That's the best way to start the new year, right?

Have a happy and safe start to 2010!

New Years Eve – Make Up Tips

Monday, December 21, 2009 by Tiffany Bickerstaff

One of my favorite holidays of the year is New Years Eve.  Whether you are attending a wild party with friends, spending a romantic evening with someone special, or going to a concert, chances are you want to look stunning on this special night.  After you have chosen the perfect outfit, shoes, accessories and hairstyle, you need to find the right makeup to complete your look.  I use to be a makeup artist and my personal favorite look is the Smokey Eye; it is sexy and sophisticated, everyone can pull it off and it’s easy to do!  Just read below for some helpful tips. I am also going to let you know where to get the best online bargains so you can save money.

Let me start with one specific product I love. The Smokey Eye Brush Set from Sephora (40 points/$), which is on sale for just $42, regularly $89. (Enter Smokey Eye Brush Set in the search bar at Sephora.com). The kit includes 5 brushes (wide smudge, all-over shadow, small domed smudge, detail, and dual-sided brow brush and comb), Volume Mascara in black, AND an instructional how-to booklet that gives you 6 easy steps to achieve this look. All of this comes in a chic gunmetal faux-leather case.

You can use the instructional booklet to help you create the look, but here is another easy way to create the look:

  • The first step is to prepare your eye lid. Use a cream style concealer or heavy liquid foundation to cover the surface of your eye before you apply any eye makeup.  This helps create a smooth base and the makeup will last longer.
  • Next you will need to apply your eyeliner. You will need to make the line thicker in the middle of the eye.  Smudge the lines with a “smudge” brush and blend upwards, (you can also use a q-tip or a sponge). The farther the color is from the lashes, the more it should fade.
  • To create color on the bottom lashes, which is the key to smoky eye makeup you will need to use a lighter eyeliner. Once applied, you will need to smudge this for your smoky effect.
  • Now lightly brush a dark colored powder shadow over the surface of the lid, including into the crease. Brush outward and with an upward motion. Stop short of the brow line and do not pass the outer edge of the brows on the sides.
  • Sweep a little of the light powder shadow across the brow bone, blending lightly. Start the light shadow a little inside of the inner corner eye. This brightens and opens up the eye.
  • Double check what you have done, and ensure that both eyes match.  You can add more color, but most importantly, make sure everything is blended.
  • Lastly, finish up with several coats of mascara.  For a more dramatic look, you can apply false lashes.

Instead of the traditional black and grey smokey eye look, try using colors to really make your eyes pop.  Blue eyes: browns, golds, warm taupes; Green eyes: deep purples, plums, mauves, lilacs; Brown eyes: blues, turquoise, greens, brighter colors are best; Hazel eyes: your eye color can change like a chameleon; you can go either way with purples or browns.

Now let’s talk about some online shopping deals! I mentioned above that you will earn free points for every dollar at Sephora, but you’re also going to get 3 free samples with every order.  Sephora is also offering up to 75% off some of their new items!

If you purchase your products at ULTA Beauty, you are going to earn 64 points/$ through Memolink's Online Rewards Program.  Right now Ulta is offering 30% Off One Item Plus get 3 Free Samples with Every Order, use beauty product coupon code: CJ30OFF1.  Check out Ulta.com for other special holiday deals like a FREE Luxury Robe with a fragrance purchase of $30 or more!

New Years Eve is all about the glitz and glam, so ring in the New Year with head-turning looks worthy of a midnight kiss or two!

I Want Shoes for Christmas

Sunday, December 20, 2009 by Guest Blogger

Is your Christmas shopping done yet?  Mine is, but here’s the real catch…having people repeatedly ask me what I want for Christmas.  Really in today’s market, I don't need anything, but what do I want???  Shoes of course!

If you are a shoe lover like me, DSW is a GREAT place to find discount deals online on brand name shoes in every style. So why not ask for a gift card? Then you can shop through Memolink.com, where right now you can ean 64 points/$, plus get free shipping with a purchase of $35 or more. Just use their store code online, SNOWMAN. They always have great store deals online in their clearance section, where you can get an extra 30%-70% off.  Just last week I got a gorgeous pair of purple Guess stilettos for only $45, usually over $100.  You just can’t beat that.

What's even better, is DSW not only has discount deals on shoes but they also carry handbags as well.  Handbags in every color, brand, shape and size  to go perfectly with your new shoes.  So, now when someone asks you what you want for Christmas you have the perfect answer and if you haven’t quit finished your shopping just yet you also have an gift idea for both the men and women in your home.  What better way to spend the holidays, but shopping for shoes?

Thank you to Megan, an employee of Memolink.com, for being a guest blogger this week.

Old Navy is where it's at

Saturday, December 19, 2009 by Guest Blogger

Cheers to Old Navy, they always seem to have what I'm looking for and at a great price. I saw on Memolink.com that they have an awesome deal going on for this weekend, 56 pts/$. Sweet.

I'm a big fan of Old Navy's sweaters and they almost always have my size and then some. You can get sweaters up to a XXXL.  What's great is their sweaters are a little lighter than other sweaters you find, so its easy to wear a button up shirt underneath them and not get too warm. Their argyle sweaters are my favorite and work well for casual Fridays at work.

It's good to know they always have a bunch of children deals and store deals online on a pretty regulay basis too. For example, you can get boys polo shirts for just $5 and fleece hats for $3. If you have little girls, you can get v-neck t-shirts for just $5 or fleece pants for $10.  Old Navy has a gift section where you can shop by price: $5, $10, $15, or $20 gifts, making it easy to shop. My wife loves buying stocking stuffers at Old Navy. We're big fans.

Thanks to Andrew T., a memolink.com member, for being a guest blogger this week.
